 SBIS CH. KAMGAARD KEKEKABIC Picture perfect from the start, "Kekka" represents a new dimension to our breeding program with a concentrated dose of Norwegian favorites in her pedigree. As well as doubling on SBIS Ch. Sangrud Bauslerke Ice Bjorn, an individual we have always admired, she triples on famed Norwegian top producer, Ch. Baus through her National winning granddam, "Juli." "Kekka's" first show was the Greater Milwaukee Norwegian Elkhound Association specialty in late February '09 where she won her class and was Reserve Winners bitch to kennelmate "Kasey" under breeder-judge Sally Berger ("Galena Creek"). We thank Kristi Wehking for not only giving her such a wonderful start in life, but for handling her at her first show. Several months later, she was Reserve Winners Bitch at the Norwegian Elkhound Club of the Potomac Valley specialty under breeder-judge Dr. Robert Indeglia ("Tekdal"). In June of 2009, she went to Chicago for the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America's National Futurity where she was proclaimed Best in Futurity by judge Mark Munson, kennel manager for the Vin-Melca Elkhounds. Two months following her Futurity victory, "Kekka" was selected Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Garden State Norwegian Ekhound Club Specialty show under breeder-judge Robert Greaves of the U.K. ("Whittimere"). At the 2010 National Specialty of the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America, "Kekka" was chosen Best in Maturity by breeder Amy Peterson ("Elvbend") and with this win she becomes the first individual to win both the Futurity in one year and the Maturity in the next!
Following her second National victory, she was Winners Bitch at the Greater Cleveland Norwegian Elkhound Association specialty show under Mr. Harry O'Donoghue of Ireland ("Blackdale") in August and followed this win up with Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Norwegian Elkhound Association of Minnesota specialty show under Mr. David Samuelson ("Dashing") in October.
Making two spring appearances in May of 2011, she was first judged Winners Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Breed over many Champions under Mrs. Anne Indergaard of Norway ("Annwn") for a BIG 5 point major at the supported entry of the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club held at the Bucks County Kennel Club show. Less than two weeks later she was in the winners circle once again, this time at the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America's National Regional specialty where she completed her Championship with another 5 point major under Swedish breeder-judge Mr. Arvid Goransson.
Since finishing her Championship, she scored a creditable Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed at the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club specialty under master breeder Mrs. Marie Peterson ("Windy Cove") followed by whelping a beautiful litter of six to SBIS American/Canadian Ch. Kamgaard Kodiak Snowbear in the summer of 2012. Most recently, she was Specialty Best in Show at the Norwegian Elkhound Club of the Potomac Valley under breeder-judge Mrs. Judy Silker ("Dunharrow").
