SBIS AMERICAN GRAND/CANADIAN/BERMUDIAN CH. KAMGAARD KASE IN POINT "Kasey" was co-bred and co-owned with the late Cecilia Frye and husband Dennis Frye. A singleton puppy, Cecilia and "Kasey" were bonded from day one and Cecilia had high expectations for her from early on, getting to celebrate with us all of her wins through puppyhood before Cecilia lost her battle with cancer in January of '09. Making her debut at the American National in May of '08 she was the youngest entry in the show, yet managed good placings in both her Sweepstakes and Futurity classes. Going home to grow up for a few months, she re-appeared in Canada in August and September and won three big Puppy Hound Group Firsts. In September she went to the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club specialty and handled by Sue Ratz, she was Best in Sweepstakes as well as Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a BIG 5 point major! Two weeks later she was also Best in Sweepstakes at the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Southeastern Michigan Specialty and picked up a 4 point major the next day at the supported entry at the Monroe Kennel Club. Her first adult outing was in February '09 where she was Winners Bitch and Best of Breed over Ch. at the Central New Jersey Hound Association Specialty under. Dr. Bödegård from Sweden. Three weeks later she was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed over 5 Champion bitches at the Greater Milwaukee Norwegian Elkhound Association Specialty Show under breeder Sally Berger ("Galena Creek") for another 4 point major. In June of 2009, "Kasey" traveled to Chicago and was placed Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Maturity at the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America's annual Futurity/Maturity event when judged by Mark Munson, kennel manager for Vin-Melca Norwegian Elkhounds. Later that day, "Kasey" received the final jewel in her Championship crown by winning a large Bred By Exhibitor class and on to Winners Bitch for a big 5 point major at the Northeastern Illinois Norwegian Elkhound Association Specialty Show under Mr. Nathaniel Horn ("Eastern Waters"). A month later, she returned to Canada to be placed Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Canadian National Specialty under breeder-judge Nelson Huber ("Valdemar"), proving her specialty talents on both sides of the border. Kasey is maturing with style and grace and vindicating the faith which Cecilia placed in her from the very start. |
