AMERICAN / AUSTRALIAN CH. KAMGAARD KUTTING EDGE One of an “all boy” litter of five, “Seth” soon caught our eye early on for his square profile, balance, easy movement and attitude – characteristics which he still displays today as a grown-up. Kept stateside for the maximum amount of time in order to do minimal quarantine “down under” we took him on a few outings for show practice. His first spin around the ring resulted in an all-breed Best Puppy in Match. Point shows next, Seth captured back-to-back four point majors on his first week-end out at just a little over six months of age. Two weeks later he finished with two more four point majors – four shows entered, four shows won and finishing with a most wonderful Winners Dog and Best of Winners at the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club specialty show under master breeder Marie Peterson of Windy Cove fame. A champion at 6 months and 28 days, Seth is quite possibly the youngest American champion ever in our breed! It would then be a few more months before he could leave us to first make the flight to the import agent in California, followed by the long flight to Australia and then a month in quarantine. He cleared all those hurdles without skipping a beat and since making his show debut “down under” has never looked back. We are indebted to Craig Evans and Anna-Lee Forsberg and their son Austin for the obvious love, care and devotion showered on Seth. He is very much at home in his new abode with the Norvaan Elkhounds of New South Wales and his wins have been notable. Just reaching maturity, he has been named Australia’s #1 Norwegian Elkhound for 2014 in group points by a wide margin and his best is yet to come. Seth’s first sired litter contained some beautiful puppies and we couldn’t be happier! |
