Another winning "Kubota" son, "Kodiak" is a first Champion for his proud owner Mary Jo Cieply who handled him from start to finish! He a very standard and sound individual who is beautifully balanced as his movement shows. Some of his memorable wins were a first major with a Best of Breed from the classes over Champions at the Western PA Kennel Association under Bob Forsyth, Best in Sweepstakes at the Greater Cleveland Norwegian Elkhound Association under breeder Phil Thomas ("Tho Ma San"), Winners Dog for a major at the Greater Cleveland Norwegian Elkhound Association under breeder-judge Cam LaBree ("JoCala") and a Best of Opposite Sex (to "Cousin Kami") at the Utstilling conducted by the Norwegian Elkhound Club of the Potomac Valley under Dutch judge Rony Djoedins ("Saimaan")

After a successful trip to the Canadian National week-end in 2007 where Kodiak picked up a 4 point win under judge Joe Gregory, he returned in 2008 to the very same show site of the Oxford County Kennel Club and was Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed at the booster show of the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Canada and onto a wonderful Hound Group Third under Mr. Pete Dawkins for a big 5 points!  The following day he was again Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed for 3 points under Mrs. Gerona MacCuaig ("Jothona") and his Canadian title, again owner-handled all the way by Mary Jo.  He finished 2008 as Canada's #3 Elkhound!

Shown infrequently, Kodiak's Specialty Best in Show title came in May of 2011 at the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America's National Regional specialty where he was Best of Breed from the Veteran Dog class under Swedish breeder-judge Mr. Arvid Goransson handled by Mary Jo.  What a win!
